When did the Alumni Association decide to partner with Capital One®?
The Alumni Association began reviewing vendors to provide an affinity card in 2009. Many were reviewed before Capital One was chosen. The program officially began in February, 2011.

Why did the Alumni Association choose Capital One?
We felt it was important to provide an opportunity for alumni and supporters of the University to carry their Monarch Pride with them wherever they went. In addition, the Capital One card lets cardholders redeem points for merchandise, including ODU-Specific rewards which will be coming soon.

Does the Alumni Association benefit financially?
Yes. The alumni association receives compensation for this program, which goes to support alumni and student programs and athletics.

Can I ask not to receive mail from Capital One about this card?

Do I have to be an alumnus to get this card?

No! You do not have to be an alum to apply for this card. Anyone with Monarch Spirit can click here to apply.

If I already have an ODU card with another bank, is it still valid?
Yes. However, this is the only card that supports the Old Dominion University Alumni Association.
