Did you know?
Admission to Old Dominion has grown more competitive every year. During the spring of 2003, the Office of Admissions presented the following statistics:

  • For the fall 2003, more than 420 (up from 406 in 2002) students were admitted "With Distinction" (with at least a 3.3 GPA and 1180 SAT score)
  • ODU received more than 10,200 applications for fall 2003 admission, up from 9,851 for fall 2002

Student enrollment at Old Dominion surpassed 20,000 in the fall of 2002.

Help Old Dominion continue to recruit the best and brightest new students by volunteering for the Alumni Association's Alumni/Admissions Partnership. As an Alumni Admissions Volunteer you can help your alma mater by participating in the following activities:

Letter-Writing to Prospective Students
Each spring, Alumni Admissions Volunteers write personal letters to students who have been admitted to Old Dominion, encouraging these students to accept the admissions offers. In their letters, alumni write about their favorite Old Dominion memories and discuss how their Old Dominion degrees have led to personal success. These letter-writing campaigns have tremendous results. In the spring of 2002, 58% of the admitted students who received letters chose to enroll at Old Dominion that fall.

Send-Off Parties
At the end of each summer, just before students pack up and head off to start their college careers at Old Dominion, alumni in various regions of Virginia (Richmond, Northern Virginia, etc.), as well as several other states, open up their homes each August to welcome ODU-bound students to the Monarch family. This is a wonderful opportunity for new students to meet one another before they move to Norfolk.
